There is an ongoing debate among many people regarding the value and intelligence of Nature. Do animals have feelings? Do they think? Are they more than animated instinct machines that do only what their genetic makeup determines? Does a plant contribute more to the world than its inherent beauty or grace? Is it beautiful by some random act of uncontrolled mutation? Can a daffodil or a spider or a rock have an opinion? What is Nature, anyway? Beautiful trees? Meandering rivers? Wildflowers? Flocks of birds? Seen? Unseen? As a producer and practitioner of Nature and flower essences, I have developed an acute appreciation for the wisdom of the natural world, both seen and unseen. Every time I co-create an essence or check myself or a client for essences, I am privileged to touch into this amazing realm, this intelligence that is so willing to offer its support and advice at every level of Life. I'd like to share a story with you about this intelligence that I have come to trust so completely in my work with essence therapy. Knowing vs. Thinking I recently taught one session in a series of holistic health classes. Towards the end of the class I asked if anyone would like to be checked for essences. A woman volunteered and I asked her to think about what she wanted to work on, but not tell me what it was. Now, when I "check someone for essences," I ask permission to touch into their energy field so I am fully connected, then I ask their whole being what it needs. I do this by dowsing with a pendulum. This woman checked for Grieving Soulution (which helps you through the grieving process) and Niagara Falls (the leap of obedience, willingness to leap over the abyss joyfully and without resistance). When I finished reading the definitions, I looked up to see the woman was in tears. She did not say what she had been thinking about, but she did say the essences were right on. She sat down and I continued my lecture. After a few minutes, she raised her hand and said, "I just have to tell you this. Right before I married my second husband, my first husband passed away. I still had feelings for him, but felt it wouldn't be right to grieve his death just as I was about to marry another man. So I suppressed the grief all these years. In the last three weeks I have been hearing "our song," dreaming about him, remembering our life together, and grieving the loss of him. Oh, and we went to Niagara Falls on our honeymoon." Now at the moment she was saying this, I was astounded with the accuracy of the essences. (No matter how long I work with them, I am often astounded!) It wasn't until later, however, that I fully grasped the depth of the intelligence that offered her the elegant and gentle message: "Here's Grieving Soulution because you need its support right now to help you through your process. And here's Niagara Falls so you know that we know this is why you are grieving." If she had told me out loud what issue she wanted to address, I could never have "thought" to support and acknowledge her in such a profound way. While Grieving Soulution was a logical choice, given the situation, the simple recognition of the source of her feelings that came with the Niagara Falls essence, just the name, would have been beyond my logical, rational thinking. This is what I mean when I speak of the intelligence of Nature. Each and every essence is, indeed an intelligence, ready and willing to help us because they know us so well. Human beings are the only sentient beings that try to hide their feelings and believe, somehow, like the ostrich with its head in the ground, that nobody can see how they feel. We are part of the Oneness that is God, All That Is, Source, or whatever name or label works for you. As part of this great Creation, every thought is known to all parts of the Creation. On subtle levels, we, too, KNOW each other deeply because we, too, are part of this awesome Creation. The difference is that Nature is willing to hear our thoughts and share her knowledge through the gentle vibrational remedies called essences. Nature is our partner and co-creator, capable and willing to be there for us every time we ask for help. Nature and flower essences, and the powerful forces of Nature that we can touch into when using them, are truly a healing modality of the future that we can use now. As we learn to understand the body/mind connection and recognize the willingness of the body to restore itself to wholeness through focusing on balance and moderation, essences will become the "tool of choice" for many. I love to talk about essences! Feel free to contact me by phone or email if you have questions or stories to share of your experiences with essences or nature. We are blessed to have such powerful partners on our side!
