Know Thyself, There is Nothing Else to Seek Such simple words. Know Thyself, there is nothing else to seek. Yet we seek anything and everything outside of us to keep from looking within: gurus, lovers, leaders, teachers, 300 cable channels, the internet... Why is it so hard to listen to what is inside of us? In 1994, Nelson Mandela, freed after 27 years as a political prisoner, shared these thoughts (written by Marianne Williamson) in his inaugural address:
We are taught, almost from birth, to rely on outside authorities and do what we are told. We eat and sleep when our parents tell us to even if we aren't hungry or sleepy. In school we are told to sit still, be quiet and pay attention, even if we don't learn well that way. We suppress our feelings because we might hurt someone else's, and we ignore our physical discomforts because we "have to be somewhere." We learn that everyone and everything else is more important than we are and we might just as well stop whining about it because that's just the way it is. It is imperative that we begin to slow down and become reacquainted with ourselves, reclaim our personal authority, and express the bright light we already are. There isn't a single star out there in the cosmos that dims its own light because another star is shining brightly close by. Yet we, purportedly the "biggest and best" nature has to offer, bury our light under layers of self-doubt and false humility. We learn early on that there are only a few special, creative and wonderful people in the world and we aren't one of them. So we don't "show off" (even though we can do everything we say we can, and do it well), we don't make someone else look "bad" (which is impossible--you are the only one that can make you look bad), and we don't put forth our best effort because it might cause someone else to feel inadequate (especially touchy if the someone else is a boss or other "superior"). How do we turn this around and reclaim our personal authority, our birthright? My favorite tools, of course, are nature and flower essences! Two come to mind right away: Seashell 1 and Seashell 2. Both of these address childhood, a time when many of us feel we were dishonored or abused in some way. Seashell 1 helps you reclaim your personal power and entitlement, bringing your lower three chakras (root, sacral and solar plexus) into balance and alignment. These chakras are especially related to your physical body: the root chakra deals with tribal or family issues, the sacral chakra holds your creativity and relationship to others, and the solar plexus chakra addresses your personal power and relationship with yourself. As these chakras are brought into harmony, you begin to feel safe in your body again, and become willing to take responsibility for the choices you are making. Seashell 2 offers support in forgiving those whom you perceive as being mean or abusive to you during your childhood. It can also help you forgive yourself if you feel you were mistreated because you "deserved it." This essence harmonizes the four upper chakras: heart (love and compassion), throat (personal will and expression), third eye (the clear mind seeking truth), and crown (your spiritual connection to All That Is). As these energy centers become fully engaged, it becomes easier to speak your truth with compassion and integrity, and claim your place in the world. Another excellent remedy is Birthright Soulution (yes, it's SOULution!). This combination of nature essences also brings the seven chakras into harmony and helps you remember that it is your birthright to be who you are, where you are, RIGHT NOW! Birthright includes the following featherhawk nature essences: Amethyst, for protection, meditation, and integrating new frequencies; Angelic Carekeeper, an enfolding Angelic presence and support for remembering your life purpose; Catalpa Tree Flower, for sharing yourself in groups, Angelic connection, and endurance; Eagle, for focus and expanding beyond the perceived limitations of the body; Heather, for inner listening and keeping your own counsel and for those obsessed with their own problems; Resurrection, brings the gift of Faith, calling you back to life; Song of the Earth, clears inharmonious sound and attunes you to Earth changes. When you take an essence you are taking in the most glorious and wondrous qualities of nature, and awakening and enhancing these qualities within yourself. They are, however, never a substitute for medical or psychological care, so be sure to check with your health care practitioner if your condition or situation persists.
