Louis Pasteur is the "father," if you will, of the germ theory: all disease is caused by germs. If germs are eliminated, disease will be eliminated. Of course our experience indicates germs get stronger when we attempt to eradicate them with ever more powerful drugs, yet we continue to develop and prescribe stronger drugs. The definition of insanity is: When you do the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome. Does the research and manufacture of stronger and stronger antibiotics remind you at all of the definition of insanity? (We'll get to Sacred Geometry in a minute!) In the 19th century, while Pasteur was putting forth the germ theory, his contemporary, Claud Bernard, was convinced that the deciding factor in health was the "terrain," the body environment as a whole. He believed a healthy constitution, a strong terrain, would defeat any disease organism that entered the body. In the present-day arena of "holistic health care," this is precisely the goal: stimulate the immune system, keep the body tuned up and vital through good food, exercise, rest and (most importantly!) adequate play time, and you will have a healthy terrain. Alas, Pasteur's theory took hold, even though, on his deathbed, he is purported to have said, "Bernard was right, it is the terrain, not the germs." Let's look at the germ theory Based on our belief that if you eliminate the germs, diseases will be eliminated, we vaccinate and spray and disinfect ourselves and our environments with heaven-only-knows what chemicals, all for the purpose of eliminating germs. (And what do you suppose all those chemicals are doing to our immune system? Just a thought.) I read once that if we scraped cells from our hands into a petri dish, in a couple of weeks we would be astounded (and probably disgusted) at what was growing in the dish. If you don't have a handy petri dish at home, try this: Spit on a cotton ball and put it in a ziploc bag. Just spit a little bit - the cotton ball is barely damp, not floating. Seal the bag and put it in a dark, warm place, perhaps a bathroom cabinet or a dresser drawer. Mark a date on your calendar two weeks later so you don't forget it's there. You'll likely be amazed by what you see. You might also notice you're alive to look at it, so all those germs didn't do you in. Germs were here before we came along. They have a survival instinct to beat all survival instincts. And they will be here long after we're gone. It seems to me (without getting into the other big debate, Creation vs. Evolution) if God created us, She probably created the germs, too. And if She created the germs, why would they be a mortal threat to the other life forms on the planet? Seems pretty unlikely. Isn't it possible that we're supposed to live together in harmony, us and the germs? Could it be more realistic to focus on enhancing our physical foundation, our terrain, instead of erradicating the supposed "enemy"? Here's the Part About Sacred Geometry... One of the most important things we can do to begin improving our terrain is to become grounded. "Grounded" means to be present in our bodies NOW (not mentally out walking the dog or reviewing tomorrow's agenda). It means being self-aware and respecting our individual body as well as our collective body, Mother Earth. The stronger our foundation, the easier it is to hear the voice of our Soul. And when we listen to our Soul, it is easier to do those things that keep us in harmony and balance like eat well, exercise, rest, and play. Sacred Geometry can help us with this. Please don't let either of these words scare you. The geometry of your school days was quantified and sterilized... and required. In truth, Sacred Geometry speaks to your relationship with your consciousness and awareness, and you can only be conscious and aware in the present moment. We always bring the sacred within ourselves to the sacred that is around us. There is much talk of "sacred sites," special places on the Earth that have heightened energy vortexes. I propose that every square centimeter of Earth is Sacred Space, and that we consecrate that space with our Divine presence even when we're mowing the lawn or cleaning out the garage. This is the gift of Sacred Geometry. If we become consciously aware of the geometries of our body by invoking its sacred patterns, I believe we can strengthen our physical human foundation. If we become consciously aware of the geometrical structure of our subtle energy bodies, we gain unlimited access to our transformative potential. It is this spiritual structure, fully embodied rather than thought about, that becomes our sacred Self. And when the physical and subtle structures are integrated, we can maintain a balanced and healthy relationship with ourselves and our buddies, the germs. Illuminations,
