| April 2006 * Springtime |
|
Greetings everyone, and Happy Spring! To hear the birds sing and see the bulbs blooming and trees flowering is such a blessing! Just to have the windows open again is a small miracle. I love how the whole world seems to suddenly turn vibrant green. Of course, if you are in a part of the world where it stays green all year, this may make no sense whatsoever. Here in the Midwest where we have four actual seasons, Spring is a very welcome arrival! As the
nature kingdom bursts forth in its glory once again, these wise
words come from the Buddha: This is the gift of essences: to share in the miracle of a single flower, a single mineral, a single animal or event or moment... and allow it to speak to you and forever transform your view of life. And because nature's first priority is to partner with humanity for the good of all, you can trust the affects to be as gentle as they are powerful. This edition of the newsletter includes information about three special essences to help you through the Spring, and of course, the entire repertory is awaiting your inspection! In my own private revolt against high energy prices, I made it through the winter without using my furnace. I did use a space heater, I wore lots of layers of clothing when I was home, and I most definitely regretted my choice a few times, like when it was nineteen degrees with the windchill below zero. Whew! Believe me, I have a wonderful appreciation for warmer weather! It has been a while since the last newsletter, and I apologize for my winter hibernation. You can expect to see regular communications from now on - at least once a month. Thanks for taking the time to read through the newsletter and act on the opportunities! If you have any questions, give me a call or drop me an email. And enjoy your Spring! be well, * * * * * * * Table of Contents1. Special Offers available until June 15,

Sale prices are good until June 15, 2006.So often essences come up for myself and nearly everyone I work with over a period of time, and the essence for right now is Double Rainbow: "For shattering the illusion of separation. Remember we live in a world of relationship to all of Life, seen and unseen: Human to Human, Human to Nature, Human to Spirit. There is no separation, only Love, Wholeness and connection." Despite the assault of daily news reports describing a world gone mad, real people, places and activities (like you and me living our lives every day) are reflecting a gathering of our power and willingness to stand in our Wholeness. This is the gift of Double Rainbow, the opportunity to reinforce our commitment to one another and the world community we live in, to remember wholeness and inner peace, and to shine our light so that others might find their own right path. In trauma or crisis the Whole of You may contract away from the Part of You that is most impacted by the situation or event. When this occurs, that Part may feel isolated and disconnected and you may feel somehow empty or incomplete. Comfrey encourages the expansion of your Self to embrace and reintegrate the Part, allowing a return to Wholeness." Once again we see the message of Wholeness. And the importance of taking care of ourselves first. If you've ever taken a commercial flight, you have heard a message like this: "in case of emergency, an oxygen mask will automatically drop down in front of you. If you are traveling with a child (or another person who is less able than you are), put your mask on first, then help the other person." They don't say this in the hopes your traveling companion will suffer; they want you to be as strong and functional as possible because then you will be better able to help someone else. More than ever these days we are called to Wholeness, to remembering who we are (without becoming big-headed about it), and to helping others. Our personal strength and groundedness is especially important. Comfrey is a great support for this work. To buy Comfrey Essence now click here. The third key essence is Arrowhead: "Stay in your heart and do your work. Integrate past life lessons and cut away old patterns and behaviors that no longer serve you. For transforming Judgment, against yourself and others, into Forgiveness." Regardless of what is going on around you, if you stay in your heart and do your work, you are serving the greater good. Arrowhead aids you in embracing past lessons and patterns (from this lifetime or other lifetimes) and in transforming Judgment by bringing you into the present moment. When you are in your heart, NOW is all that matters. It is in this NOW moment that each of us can make a difference. When we make a difference in our own life, our shift, our insight, our commitment ripples out and touches everyone of like mind, and the ripples continue to grow and expand. You never know how your thoughts, words and actions will touch another person. I can safely say, however, if you are intent on making someone else change to suit you, because you know what is best for them, you will meet resistance and your efforts will bounce back and smack you upside the head. If you use this essence to truly stay in your heart and do your work, your example will live as a beacon which other people will want to emulate, and they may never even realize that they are resonating to the model of Wholeness you are living. To buy Arrowhead Essence now click here. These essences are on sale until June 15, 2006. Regular price, $8.99, sale price is just $5.55 each. The Ground of Practice"When people start to meditate or to work with any kind of spiritual discipline, they often think that somehow they're going to improve, which is a sort of subtle aggression against who they really are. It's a bit like saying, 'If I jog, I'll be a much better person.' 'If I could only get a nicer house, I'd be a better person.' 'If I could meditate and calm down, I'd be a better person.'... But loving-kindness--maitri--toward ourselves doesn't mean getting rid of anything. Maitri means that we can still be crazy after all these years. We can still be angry after all these years. We can still be timid or jealous or full of feelings of unworthiness. The point is not to try to throw ourselves away and become something better. It's about befriending who we are already. The ground of practice is you or me or whoever we are right now, just as we are. That's the ground, that's what we study, that's what we come to know with tremendous curiosity and interest." - Pema Chodron, The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving-Kindness How many times I have thought, If I could just do this, change that, have more (or less) of this I'd be a better person, or I'd be happier, or I'd be more content or effective or___________ (fill in the blank). And how right and proper I've always thought it was to think that way - always striving to be better. Yet, as Ms. Chodron says, "The ground of practice is you or me or whoever we are right now, just as we are." When I am experiencing 'where I am' as the absolute last place I want to be, and there have certainly been times in my life when that was true, it can be a real challenge to simply allow that I've created my current state of being, and, if I'm patient and centered, this too shall pass. It will happen in perfect timing, too, because that is how the Universe works. Nothing will change because I have become, somehow, "better" --- whatever that means! Oh, the paradox of being human! We have come so far, yet we have so far to go in our understanding of who we truly are. The ultimate answer is so simple: Honor and respect the unique piece of the puzzle that you are in the world, and just be who you are. (Fellow essence practitioner, Barbara Johnson, emailed this wonderful quote to me. If you are in the Ithaca, NY area, contact Barbara at flowerabundance@aol.com.) * * * * * * * 3. The OuternetThis term may be old hat to some of you, but I heard it for the first time just recently. As a lifelong loner, it is easy for me to lock myself away and live in my own little world, my own private "internet," if you will, going out only when I absolutely have to. Which, of course, is nearly every day as I have a regular day job plus other activities that require venturing out on a regular basis. In spite of myself, I am in the world every day. What I see more and more of when I am out and about is what seems like a dedicated commitment to fear, and it permeates almost everything these days: the news, commercials, magazines, newspapers, conversations. People are afraid of germs, they are afraid of terrible things happening to them from out of the blue, they are afraid of the stock market and gas prices and health care costs and... just about anything they can name. Now I won't sit here and tell you there is nothing to fear out there in the big world; I WILL tell you, that living in a state of constant fear will make you physically ill because it jeopardizes the innate harmony of your immune system and body functions, not to mention your Soul, and it will magnetize what you fear right to you. The perfect solution to this "outernet of fear" is, of course, featherhawk essences! The essences strengthen you at your core, restoring and maintaining your central source of power and connection, offering encouragement and guidance, and providing insights into your life path and soul purpose. I love to use the essences like a divining tool. I ask questions about my day, my goals, my soul purpose or life's work, check myself for essences, and receive guidance and insights that move me firmly in the direction I want to go. As with any tool, I don't always receive the answers I would prefer - and that is when the essences become the most useful. To be thrown off-balance by an unexpected answer creates an opportunity to reach higher, expand options, and move ahead with new awareness. With the help of the essences, I can ground my new information and integrate it into my life with relative ease. So, allow the essences to serve you in all the ways they know. I guarantee the possibilities are beyond anything you can imagine, and they will keep you moving in profound ways you might have missed without their generous input. Nature's greatest joy is to serve you, in partnership. Embrace the essences and allow them to do their work. * * * Speaking of the Outernet... The articles below are from one of my favorite journals, Yes! Magazine. The first link is a list of ways to survive and thrive for the next ten years, sent in by readers of the magazine. Lots of good ideas there. The second is an expanded understanding of who we are. Enjoy! Reader Response: 50 Ways to Survive and Thrive New Awareness:
