My intention was to release it into the Earth's water system with our prayers for all Life affected by hurricane Katrina. I'd like to thank you for your prayers, and let you know how this was accomplished Sunday morning, September 11th. (If you would like to read the previous newsletter, please click here.) First, let me tell you that I participated in a health fair in Louisville, Kentucky Saturday, September 10th. I took the bottle of water with me and set it on the altar in my booth. The water, a candle, the words "Love and Gratitude," and several stones and crystals were all placed on a map of the United States. The candle was directly over the Gulf Coast. There was a sign next to the altar asking attendees to add their prayers to the water, and many people graciously did so. Because Katrina hit so close to the anniversary of September 11, 2001, I chose to perform the ceremony Sunday morning in honor of everyone touched by both events. Just recently my car took its last breath, and a replacement is temporarily out of commission, so I followed my advice to you and released the water to the Earth in my back yard. Finding the locationI used my pendulum to discern the best place to pour the water and was led to a Colorado Blue Spruce that was planted in memory of my beloved dog, Chani. She died in September of 1999 (a "meaningless coincidence" that occurred to me as I was writing this), and a friend gifted me with this small tree. As we planted it, we dedicated it to Chani's memory. It is now over seven feet tall and very beautiful. There was also a nest in the tree that was briefly occupied by a dove and three eggs. After a storm a few weeks ago that brought very high winds, the eggs were gone and the area around the nest was covered in feathers. I don't know if a predator got the bird and the eggs or if the nest was somehow damaged in the storm. One way or the other, the eggs had disappeared and I haven't seen the dove there again. As I approached the tree, I asked permission to pour the water there. It was immediately granted. I was guided to pour the water over the boughs just above the nest. From there it streamed down, dripped through the nest, splashed on the boughs below, and on to the Earth. My prayers for the highest and best good of everyone touched by these tragedies was included as the water finished draining from the bottle and the last drops reached the soil beneath the tree, and I gave thanks for the opportunity to perform this small ceremony to help restore balance and wholeness to the Earth and her inhabitants. Another meaningless coincidence: Within the last year I cocreated both Blue Spruce and Dove essences and they are currently part of the research essences in the featherhawk repertory. I don't have my own descriptions yet, so I'll share some information from two resources I use regularly. * Blue Spruce (from Flower Essences and Vibrational Healing by Gurudas):A key function of Blue Spruce is detoxification. "Spruce is good to use during a detoxification program; for instance, when people have been exposed to various pollutants..." This is critically important for everyone involved in the hurricane and the relief effort, as I'm sure you know the water itself throughout the city, and the sludge left behind as the water drains, are both highly toxic. And of course, it is being pumped into Lake Ponchartrain, which needs our prayers every moment. And for our animal friends, "With Spruce, an animal is more comfortable when alone or when working in conditions of deprivation of light, sound, or food. An animal cut off from food or proper shelter for a period of time, though showing no overt illness, may experience difficulty at the mental level as if unable to eat properly or relate correctly to humans." This is a profound gift to the animals there, as they have all been alone and hungry as well as terribly frightened. (See below for my offer of support to animal rescue work in the Gulf.) Spruce also improves the bond between the etheric body and the physical body. You may know that we have subtle bodies surrounding our physical form; so does the Earth and everything in Creation. The etheric body is immediately outside the physical body, acting essentially as a template that determines where your body's pieces parts belong, holds your basic form together, and maintains the boundary between your energy field and your body. When the physical body is traumatized, the energy field can be temporarily displaced. This is also true for the Earth. Blue Spruce will repair this disconnection for the humans, the Earth and all Life that has been affected by Katrina and other traumatic events. Dove (from Animal-Speak by Ted Andrews):"Keynote: Feminine Energies of Peace, Maternity, and Prophecy." Of course, we traditionally associate the Dove with Peace, and certainly peacefulness is much needed in the Gulf Coast and around the world right now. According to Animal-Speak, "The voice of the dove is the rain song. Out of its mourning, it invokes new waters of life. Its song should remind us that no matter what our life conditions, new waters and new life are still possible The song of this totem tells you to mourn what has passed, but awaken to the promise of the future." According to reports, some 90,000 square miles of the Gulf Coast has been damaged by Katrina. So much of the focus has been on New Orleans, though, and I cannot help but feel that that last sentence, mourning what has passed but awakening to the future, epitomizes the energy of New Orleans. I find it interesting that the nest had contained three eggs, since Ted Andrews specifically states that doves lay two eggs, "a traditional number for the feminine and creative energies." The power of Three-ness is well known in esoteric teachings (the Holy Trinity; beginning, middle, end; birth, life, death; three cheers; three wishes; the unity of a circle - center, radius, circumference - and more. Check out A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe for more fascinating information about numbers). The previous presence of three eggs is worth more contemplation. Let me know if you get any insights! I am always humbled by the wisdom of nature and the gifts She so generously offers when asked. As I read the information about the Blue Spruce and the Dove and found it so appropriate to what has happened, I felt especially blessed by being guided to the tree and the nest. It even helps me understand why I had to stay home and release the water in my own yard rather than take the Gulf water to the Ohio River, making it easier to accept that I am momentarily without wheels. Amazing. We have such an opportunity for healing, in spite of the appearance of chaos and disorder surrounding this event. It has also been glorious to watch the outpouring of love and support of every kind from around the world. As we contemplate the disaster, we must also give thanks for our growing awareness that we are all part of the global family and borders are becoming more and more meaningless. This may be our most important learning. Our first order of busines is to stay in our hearts and do our work. And right now our work is to be the bright lights we are in the world. And that means all of us! So, keep your thoughts on the highest and best outcome for everyone touched by Katrina, and keep taking your essences! Your diligence is contributing to the expansion of everyone and our movement into the most perfect future. until next time... peace, * * * * * * * Special note regarding animal rescue efforts: If you personally, or any individual or organization you know, are doing animal rescue work in the Gulf Coast, I will donate bottles of Animal Emergency Soulution and Trauma Soulution, free of charge, until I run out of donated bottles that I have collected, or run out of money to mail them. Every package of essences will include info about how to use them most efficiently. Please include a contact name and phone number at the destination address so I can verify the mailing address and confirm that the essences will be put to good use. If you have any dropper bottles you would be willing to donate and recycle in this way, please send them to Nanci Wesling, 1998 Mary Lee Drive, New Albany, Indiana 47150.1956. (Preferably one or two ounce size bottles with droppers, up to four ounce size is acceptable for this purpose. They should be empty and rinsed clean.). I will be most happy to wash them thoroughly, fill them with essences, and send them where needed. Please do not send any bottles that have contained essential oils or other strong odors. featherhawk is a small company and I do not have deep pockets; however I know how much essences will help restore hope and a sense of balance to both people and animals during this recovery period. I will send as many bottles as I can to the addresses you provide. If you are willing to donate a few dollars to help with shipping costs, that would be most appreciated. You can go to paypal.com, click on the Send Money tab, and make a donation to my paypal account, nanci@featherhawk.com. Or you can mail your contribution to the address above. When the crisis is behind us, any monies not used for shipping will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society. www.bestfriends.org.
