Beating the Holiday Blues

If you are heading into the holiday season with joyful anticipation, you need read no further. While there are essence to help you survive those stressful shopping days and visits to family (Trauma Soulution, Star of Bethlehem, Bloodroot), and others for maintaining order and patience (Cleome, Impatiens, White Chestnut, Icosahedron), if you're looking forward to the hustle and bustle, you can help yourself with a few timely doses and go merrily on your way.

If, however, you are facing the coming holidays feeling overwhelmed by family gatherings, or dreading your forays into those crowds of people at the shopping malls, or if you're feeling lonely and disconnected from others, essences can really help you!

Here are some suggestions:

Yarrow Blend is especially helpful for strengthening your emotional boundaries, which can be very helpful this time of year (see the article Emotional Sensitivity, and Essence of the Month). Yarrow Blend can help you feel more comfortable in crowds, maintain healthy boundaries around family and friends, and generally remain centered and grounded.

Azurite  Communicate from the core of your being with honesty and authenticity. Your natural adaptability can make it easier to "fit in." Especially wonderful for recognizing your love for the Earth and translating that into love for your body temple.

Cucumber  Restores life force and vitality if you are overcome by despair. Relieves feelings of claustrophobia.

Cucumber Magnolia  Joyous rebirth into new life. For new beginnings and expanded awareness of your life's possibilities.

Fairy Stone  For integrating Spirit and Matter in this dimension.

Gorse  You feel like you're "down for the count," yet somehow remember life is worth another effort, even though you "know" it can't possibly help to keep trying. For reattaching yourself to hope.

Honeysuckle  Sweet nurturing. Give yourself permission to nurture yourself and meet your own needs.

Hornbeam  You may feel overburdened by life, tired, unable to carry your load any longer. Reestablish strong connections to your everyday activities with enthusiasm and commitment.

Larch  Insecurity and lack of self-confidence are learned behaviors, instilled at a very young age. Regain your belief in yourself and stretch your wings.

Olive  For physical and/or emotional exhaustion. Rediscover your deep and profound inner resources of energy and stamina by learning to draw from the infinite well of the One, or All That Is.

Emotional Sensitivity...

...also called empathic ability or psychic feeling, "...is the ability to literally feel someone else's emotions as if they were your own feelings," according to Dr. Kyra Mesich. In her book, The Sensitive Person's Survival Guide, An Alternative Health Answer to Emotional Sensitivity and Depression, Dr. Mesich describes her own experience with emotional sensitivity, and how the use of flower essences, meditation, and visualization, helped her regain her center and strengthen her emotional boundaries.

Read this book and you will gain a new perspective on your sensitivity. Using the tools described, including essences, you will begin to perceive your sensitivity as a gift, rather than a burden. According to Dr. Mesich, "Flower essences facilitate significant beneficial changes emotionally and mentally, which also lead to physical benefits. Flower essences are so useful for emotional sensitivity that it is almost as though they are made exactly for the issue of empathic ability."

Echo Bodine, author of Echoes of the Soul, has this to say about the book: "People suffer in countless ways from their sensitivity, depression being the most common, and most are never properly diagnosed, only medicated. Reading The Sensitive Person's Survival Guide gave me a ray of hope that the day is coming when the maladies of empathic people will be taken seriously and treated in a more realistic way."

The essences below are recommended in the book.

  • Yarrow Blend
  • Pink Yarrow
  • White Yarrow
  • Yellow Yarrow
  • Corn

Animal Emergency Soulution (AES) is the first in a series of products being developed especially for your animal friends. Over the years, I have used essences with many animals. If ever there was a splendid example of the power of essence therapy (and evidence in support of their impact beyond the "placebo effect"), it comes from working with the animal kingdom! Their response is quick and clear.

Animal Emergency Soulution:

Aids recovery from an accident, trauma, or surgery

Eases changes in the household (moving, addition or loss of a human or animal family member, adoption into a new home, rescue, etc.)

Safe for dogs, cats, birds, horses, cows, wild animals... all the critters!

Non-toxic, no harmful side effects, safe for newborn and young animals
